Anyways, now that’s out of the way, I’ve done my first (full) thing off my list of 20 Things to Do When I’m 20  and I’ve made a Kiva loan!

One unique thing about Kiva is that you get to choose who you loan to through categories such as gender of borrowers and what the loan is to be used for. 

This first time, I chose a woman and agriculture. Based on my principles, I knew that I’d have to loan to someone who wasn’t raising meat and who wasn’t requesting a loan for synthetic fertilizers and weed killers such as gramoxone (which as I looked up is quite toxic to humans and animals). 

That led me to Ludmila from Ukraine (her story)


If all works out well, I should be repaid in October of this year and be able to make another loan to another borrower with the money I loaned Ludmila. What a great cycle!
