Slope Day was on Friday. I think just about everyone here in Ithaca has finally recovered. It was a fun and crazy day despite the music (Kendrik Lamar, Hoodie Allen, and 5 and a Dime = iffy at best).
I woke up early as people do on Slope Day, the all the amis and I started off the day with blueberry pancakes and lots of mimosas. We did the Slope Day traditional activities…, stopped over to a party at an amie’s friend’s house, met another amie’s two friends, and then hit the slope for the music.

Talk about a long, crazy, wonderful day.
Three of the amis and I ran a 5k yesterday morning, as I mentioned Friday! It was through the Cornell plantations, which I am embarrassed to say I haven’t run through more during my time here at Cornell. The course was easier than the typical hilly Westchester XC courses, but it was still hilly and quite windy (it started snowing 10 minutes after I finished). Quite pretty nevertheless.
On an exciting note, Ami L came in second with a time of ~19:15. I was off my PR by 8-10 seconds with a time of ~26:12, but for spraining my MCL about three months ago and not running an official 5k (or any other race) in over two years, I was quite happy. I also managed to win a pair of promotional sunglasses (as did le copain who finished two places in front of me (and hadn’t run whatsoever in an entire year)).
All in all it was a good great morning had by all.

^^^Actually all looking pretty swell post 5k. (That might be a first). Also, HGXC representing!! (:
^^^Matching promotional sunglasses. Perhaps they’ll make an appearance at Slope Day?
So, the amis and I are running a 5k tomorrow morning (!!)
It’s been making me really anxious all week because I haven’t run a 5k in over two years and I’m sort of aiming for a PR even though that’s mainly me setting my sights high…by like a minute.
Besides the anxiety I’ve been feeling, this upcoming event has made me think that although it’s nice to be out of high school, I do really miss the whole HGXC experience…. the 5ks, VDOTs, Castles, Kipps, Old Lyme’s, Mr. Houser and Señor, cheersitions, etc. with a whole lot of some of the most quirky, intellectual, and ultimately wonderful people I have ever met.
^^^Now let’s all appreciate the wonderful awkwardness of this photo! ;p
Loveliest amies— I’ve really started to miss you. Not that I don’t often, but you’ve all been on my mind more than usual in the past week (maybe it’s the different continent thing). Hope you’re all doing well/hope hear of all your adventures soon. xo
there’s a song. most of it means nothing to me, but one line always resonates.
“well tell her that I miss our little talks”
it brings back one memory of many nights spent.
it’s summer and it’s three in the morning and i’m going into senior year/freshman year of college. i’m in the kitchen on my computer talking to a friend online about nothing really because neither of us has anything better to do.
it’s as simple as that and actually one of my favorite memories from those years.
the problem is, in time, we both found better to do. these moments became less frequent and then basically non-existent. something i’ll now admit really saddened me even though many wonderful things have happened in my life in that time.
why i’m saying all this is that tonight, we caught up after so long.
we walked around town for a while. we talked around town for a while.
it was nice to do something so familiar even though both of us had clearly changed so much and had so many new experiences over these years.
it was nice to have these little talks again. so so nice.
Firstly, I’ve tried to use Instagram more lately. I take a lot of pictures of random things, but they are kept hoarded on my phone, so why not share some of the picturerific love?
Secondly, this past week was the last week of classes. It’s on to study time now. Thankfully my schedule is the easiest it’s ever been… besides physics. I cannot complain. I’m not ready to be home yet, but I will be soon. It’s been quite awhile amies. I do know that.
So anyways, the things of a week:
1. Classics

I finally finished Pride and Prejudice this past week, and moved onto Little Women. I’m quite embarrassed that I’ve never read either before.
Missing times like these. I think that’s all that can be said these days.
Oh… Also a bad hair day in that pic. Now all has been said.
