  • I haven’t made a Christmas list in five or six years, so I figured it was the perfect year to make one. I’m not really one for getting stuff exactly, but if I was to get stuff, here’s what I’d want…for the most part highly functional things that I’d probably need anyways at some point :p

Anyways, what’s on your dream Christmas lists? Or Hanukkah lists?(This is not a rhetorical question lovely amies).

  • Seasonal Preparations: Halloween

Candy buying! … Because now I’m too old for trick or treating, but haven’t yet (probably will never) outgrown candy. Also I’m going to use the Reese’s to make a peanut butter ice cream pie for dinner tomorrow night.

Costume making… I managed to get le copain to do some arts and crafts with me. Thursday night we went to Target and AC Moore. Afterwards, crafted our synchronized costumes (if you can’t tell we’re being a double rainbow!)

Pumpkin carving… my parents came through last weekend and brought me a big pumpkin, and I figured I couldn’t let it just sit there. Although I’ve “carved” many pumpkins before (aka: scooped out seeds, helped make roasted pumpkin seeds, and drew the face on the pumpkin), this was the first time I actually did the carving. I guess I’m getting old.

PS: Dearest amies/followers/etc. what have your Halloween preparations entailed? I’d love to hear costumes, decorations, etc.!

PPS: Halloween Recap coming eventually… Even though I went out last night, I feel as if I should wait until Halloween has actually come and passed to do so.

  • Valentine’s Day Goodies / 17. “Bake” at School

Unsure of what to bake for this special day/having nothing but a fork, spoon, cereal bowl, and plastic container to use, I decided I’d do something simple and relatively fail-proof. Sunday afternoon, I ended up whipping up and wrapping up a bunch of Oreo truffles in spirit of Valentine’s Day for a few of the lovelies in my college life.

    Recipe from here (*slightly adapted)

PS: Wishing all a very very happy and lovely Valentine’s Day! <3

    XOXO,

  • Red Construction Paper and Paper Hearts

Yesterday, I ended up cutting up a sheet of brown paper (aka: the bag my delicious black and white cookie from CTB came in) into a dozen little hearts resulting in a nice windowsill decoration….

Today on my way back from my last class, I went out on a whim and bought 50 sheets of red construction paper.

And when I got back chez moi, I ended up being arts and craftsy and made my first 7 lovely Valentines/Val-O-Grams for the lovely homeslices (you never read this…./if you did, do check your mailboxes on the 14th! :P)

Now I just need to bake some sort of Valentine’s yum for the amis here, and get a super special present for a super special copain (and perhaps lovely roommate too)!

  • Goodbye Christmas

Just took down the Christmas tree. A little bittersweet. Just reminicing about the Christmas season. It’s been a good one—full of family, skiing, and snow (well sometimes). Goodbye Christmas. Hello New Year. Out with the old, in with the new!

  • Christmas Cookies!

Since I’m no longer at school and not skiing, today was Christmas cookie baking day! I think I baked about 150 of them. Snowmen, Christmas trees, bells, stockings, stars, etc. Soon I’ll have to frost them all too. Oh and the eating… cannot forget the eating! ;)

    Happy Holidays to all!

    PS/Update: Here’s some frosted Christmas trees… yum ( x6 ) !

  • Snowflakes!

It hasn’t really snowed yet, but when I got to the ami’s last night for some post study hanging out (aka: watching Mulan accompanied by wine, cheese and crackers) turns out they had decorated! Walking in I was met with probably 20-30 snowflakes hanging on the ceiling ranger from the standard classic snowflakes, to some  guy humored snowflakes (you can do the imagining…), to a star of David for Jewish ami, to these awesome Star Wars snowflakes! Whoa!

Perhaps lovely roommate and I should decorate our room a bit too!

  • Gnivigsknaht: A Cultural Family Holiday

Cultural. Mashed up. Family is family. This is my Thanksgiving pretty much:

Leaving my aunt and uncle’s house. Turns out I left the car headlights on the night before while I was DD-ing, even though I specifically asked to make sure they were off and got a yes from my cousin (the car’s main driver). Meh.

Here cousine K and I are sitting under my new blanket (an early birthday present from my aunt). We sat here for about 2.5 hours playing Hanging with Friends (I won every game) as the boys played football outside. Relatives made sure to drop by to visit with us and hear about our lives. The most popular topics were cousine K’s work and my new “friend”.

Oh and here’s dinner! An all vegetarian plate for me and wine. What an interesting dinner it was. The family finally met my cousin’s one year old son and his son’s mom. A bit interesting to say the very least, but his son was quite cute.

And here’s two of the cousins and the brother watching football after dessert. What a night it was. What a family I have. SERIOUSLY.

Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving, and I will say that I do know that I am thankful for all these wonderful things in my life… family included ;).
