Yesterday was the environmental career fair at Columbia! It was exciting/nerve-racking talking to so many different employers, but writing about it would likely be fairly bland, so I’ll tell you about the whole day.
1:20-6:45 am: Bus ride to NYC. It wasn’t the worst thing ever because I slept almost the whole time, but it was maybe the second worst thing ever.
6:45-8:00 am: Found my way out of Port Authority and to the Subway which I took uptown to Columbia.
I’d also like to take a moment here to thank my phone. Lame, I know… but it saved me so many times in terms of direction. Despite the fact that I was born in the city and live in New York State, I am in no way a New Yorker.
8:00-9:00 am: I ended up in the Starbucks across from Columbia. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I had my first full coffee ever. I’m not sure what emotion that’s supposed to conjure, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
9:00-10:00 am: I walked around Columbia for a while. It’s not “gorges” but it is pretty beautiful place, and I absolutely love old architecture… engravings, pillars, green roofs, etc. All were lovely.
I also changed into my business clothes (which was actually pretty hard to do because Columbia expects you to have an ID to get into most buildings).
10:00-1:30 pm: Career Fair. (!)
1:30-7:30 pm: My dad picked me up and drove me home which was pretty nice. I proceeded to sleep. Go figure.
7:30 pm: Le parents and I went out for Indian. It was quite tasty, and nice to catch up.
9:00 pm: Home/paper finishing/sleep.
The End!
This past weekend at home… a dream! It’s hard being away from everyone at school, but it sounds like they’re all having a nice time relaxing (as am I).
