  • Yesterday was the environmental career fair at Columbia! It was exciting/nerve-racking talking to so many different employers, but writing about it would likely be fairly bland, so I’ll tell you about the whole day.

1:20-6:45 am: Bus ride to NYC. It wasn’t the worst thing ever because I slept almost the whole time, but it was maybe the second worst thing ever.
6:45-8:00 am: Found my way out of Port Authority and to the Subway which I took uptown to Columbia.

I’d also like to take a moment here to thank my phone. Lame, I know… but it saved me so many times in terms of direction. Despite the fact that I was born in the city and live in New York State, I am in no way a New Yorker.

8:00-9:00 am: I ended up in the Starbucks across from Columbia. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I had my first full coffee ever. I’m not sure what emotion that’s supposed to conjure, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
9:00-10:00 am: I walked around Columbia for a while. It’s not “gorges” but it is pretty beautiful place, and I absolutely love old architecture… engravings, pillars, green roofs, etc. All were lovely.
I also changed into my business clothes (which was actually pretty hard to do because Columbia expects you to have an ID to get into most buildings).
    10:00-1:30 pm: Career Fair. (!)
1:30-7:30 pm: My dad picked me up and drove me home which was pretty nice. I proceeded to sleep. Go figure.
    7:30 pm:
Le parents and I went out for Indian. It was quite tasty, and nice to catch up.
    9:00 pm: Home/paper finishing/sleep.

    The End!

  • This Past Weekend (of May 18th)

This past weekend at home… a dream! It’s hard being away from everyone at school, but it sounds like they’re all having a nice time relaxing (as am I).

    On Friday…

    • I took my final final, packed/loaded a car (with the help of a laundry cart), and drove home. I also cooked one of my delicious egg and vegetable scrambles for dinner (which happened to be at 11:30p).

      (Yikes)

    On Saturday…

    • I slept for 11.5 hours/until 1:00p (I never do that).
    • I unpacked/reorganized (I have too much stuff—refer to above).
    • I also went out saw some of the lovely amies! (Hi if you’re reading! :D). We lounged by a pool, got caught up on each other’s lives, ate about every type of cheese imaginable (well Amie DB and I did), and then ate at one of our favorite dining spots, Temptation Tea House, where I got my usual order (bubble tea, miso soup, and samosas).

    On Sunday…

    • I slept for much fewer than 11 hours, but still failed to watch the majority of a 10k because my alarm failed. I did however make it for the end and to say goodbye to two of the lovely amies and return a pair of shorts.
    • After, my lovely mother and I went into Greenwich Village! We went to Buvette for brunch and ate delicious croque forestiers and petite pain au chocolats, and vowed we’d do a city brunch at least once a month this summer.
    • We also walked through the cute village streets and made our way to The High Line and walked the beautiful “ecologically restored” mile down and back, enjoying the flowers and urban artwork the whole time.

(We saw them putting this up!!)

    • Upon arriving home, I started running again! It was a pretty pathetic three miles, but definitely a start. After was a delicious dinner with my parents and then book worming :)
