(Because I’m all about lists…)
-Read these 10 books
(Amies, I still think you should stilllll get Goodreads accounts…they’re the best…. but actually).
-Get up to running a 40 mile week/run at least 25 miles every week.
-Think about getting a new laptop (…might be ready to move on).
-Watch all of Downton Abbey.
-(and maybe even Gossip Girl since I’m such a sucker for guilty pleasure TV)
-See UVM Ami. (But actually this time. It’s been so so long.)
-Go hiking.
-Go picnic-ing.
-Do the vegan thing for a total of at least two weeks (non-consecutively).
-Do something for the story. (The amis are very in to this concept).
-Figure out what classes to take in the fall (at the moment I’m only signed up for 7 credits…)
-Go to Ithaca lots to see le copain and some of the amis.
And I think that might be it.
So!…
What’s on your summer-y lists amies?
So I guess this is where I tell (most of) you amies that I finally have an internship for the summer! I committed yesterday morning.
I’ll be working as an energy analyst at an engineering, consulting, and construction management firm and I couldn’t be more excited (and nervous and so so sooo relieved after too many rejections/no-responses).
Classes start tomorrow, but here’s my update on my summer:
Overall I think what I did was enough. The beginning of my summer was a time to unwind. The middle and end of my summer were BUSY leaving little free time, but within that busyness, many awesome times were had.
Now I’m ready to be here at school, to see everyone I missed over the summer, to start classes, to live with a sense of great freedom and independence, as well as great responsibility. Everything seems like it’s right on schedule in terms of ending and beginning.
PS: Ignore a few grammatical errors (ie: in the pic above…)

I know this is my last summer at Stone Barns after working there for the past six summers, but I can’t imagine spending my summers anywhere else—everything is always just so picture perfect*!
*These were taken after it rained on Wednesday (a CRAZY 100 degrees/humid day.)
Everything about summer is way too beautiful. It’s hard to believe that everything— the colors, patterns, smells, and sounds that come with the season were made without a human touch.

1. Evening sky from Wellesley Island in TI Park a week ago.
2. An injured butterfly found on a trail with campers this past week.
3. A colorful zucchini taken home from work. Can’t wait to make bread out of it soon!
I’ve been lucky. My summer break has lasted exactly one month and one day. During this break I have unpacked, slept in, read 4.5 books, run 100 miles, hiked 18 miles/3 mountains, seen le copain twice, seen le extended family once, seen various amies various numbers of times, cooked/baked delicious foods, watched two entire seasons of both Modern Family and Arrested Development, planted some basil (that was yesterday), and for the most part enjoyed myself.
Today I did as I’ve done for one last day.

Ahhh vacation. Day 6. Home soon though :(. Today was like most others…sleeping in, family brunch, then beaching per usual (aka: sunning, visiting with the mother, aunt, brother, and cousin T, and reading lots(/now I’m done with my 3 vacation books)). As for later tonight, plans will most likely include mini-golf where we somehow always manage to lose a ball or two to multi-lane highway Route 1 (or maybe that’s just me…) and what else besides delicious ice cream?!
PS: Hope you’re enjoying wherever you are at the moment too!
I’m okay saying this… I still love my brother and my cousins. We haven’t lost everything we once had in common, but they’re not the same as the best friends I used to have when I was little and yeah, it makes me sad sometimes. However… no matter what happens, whenever and wherever we’re together, we always do ice cream and it’s always like old times.
Kind of like tonight. We’re at the beach so of course ice cream makes loads of sense (more so than after skiing anyways…which we’ve done at Stewart’s many a time). So tonight we went to the Ice Cream Shop on the Rehoboth boardwalk…
(BTW, these pics are from last year since I didn’t bring my camera tonight.)

This place has the craziest flavors. It took the 8 of us (parents included probably 15 minutes to decide…I ended up with coconut chocolate chip almond this year.
Dear cousin T and brother D with ice cream flavors “Better than Sex” and “Looks like Viagra”…oh wow.
And here’s moi and cousine K enjoying the standard twist and black raspberry.
Mmm. At least everything’s not lost.
